Working on 2010 seasonWell another season is over at Fourwinds MX Park and it was a reasonably good season and for the most part a safe season which
was great. We want to thank everyone that came to the facility this season either to race, practice or just to watch.
I am already working on the 2010 season talking with clubs and setting dates. We will be running the Track Championship
again next season which I thought was a big success in its first season this year and congratulations to all the winners
of awards. Obviously there were a few hicups that I will address and I will be modifying the championship rules
slightly for next year so be sure to check the championship page out in the new year for all the info. I
have provisionally set the May 2/4 weekend for next season which is our CMRC ANQ and it will have a few different things happening.
We are looking at making it a two day race format being Sunday & Monday with the normal open practice on
the Saturday. I haven't decided wether to make it a Three Moto format or run two full race days for this I am looking
for some feed back from the riders so please e-mail me with your ideas on this. If we run it as a three moto format
some classes would have two moto's on the Sunday and one on the Monday and vice versa for other classes with entries being
$45 per class. If like normal there is qualifying heats required for certain classes then those classes would be
split like normal except they would run two moto's on the sunday and the overall results from both moto's in each division would
set an A and B final on Monday. We are working on a lot over the winter months to make this a big event for you
the riders to make it the Spring Amatuer Classic and we will be combining it with a Special Event on the Saturday not moto
for something different to watch for those wishing to make this a full long weekend away with the family. Over
the last 4/5 weeks I have been talking with a group from Throttlehappyoffroad.ca to host and promote a "Rock Crawl"
event at the park so I have decided to go ahead and give it a go. This Event will be held in conjunction with the May 2/4
ANQ on the Saturday at the same time as open practice will be running on the MX Track which will allow riders something
else to watch while they aren't practicing. What you don't know what "Rock Crawling" is well you aren't
alone as I didn't until a few weeks back when I meet with them and was given a demonstration which was actually very
interesting to watch. Its not speed orientated but it is very technical and you are able to get up close to the action. The
best way to relate it is Trials Riding except in specially built 4x4 trucks with big wheels, special suspension and
winches to lower or raise the front and rear of the vechile. The obstacles that these things can manouver over and around
is quite amazing if you ask me so it may be something a bit different for all of you to watch. This will be held on a man
made course obviously and can be built in a pretty confined areas and the group have already secured a lot of the required
material to build these courses. For some more info why don't you check out they're website and take a look at some of the
stuff they do. I will also be posting a new page on the website shortly with all the info for this as well as some pictures
and possibly a video or two of some recent action.
I will continue to update the website over the winter as
new info for 2010 becomes available. Please check in when you have a chance and again thank you to everyone this season that
came to the park. Most importantly though I wish to say a big thank you to all the people that helped out this
year to make all the events happen, if I miss anyone I apologise, Doug & Mitch Wright / Wright Truck
and Auto, Kelly & Lisa and they're medical crew, The entire Keast Family, Don Turner, Dan Goheen, Siert
& Tina / Orange Motorsports, Debbie Trollop medical crew, DSF Equipment, Brett Lee (just for taking all the
BS), Donna & Chelsea, Kit & Tim, Doug Balsdon / Rick Jones for the use of the starting gates, Phil Whitefield,
LDRMC, SCRMC, Chris Haddad and to all my regular crew for putting in the long hours when needed to to get the place
ready.
