Thank you to all for the 2008 season

The facility is now closed for the season. We would like to thank everyone that came out this year and used the facility wether it was to practice or to take in an event.
I am already looking towards  next season and I start this weekend with some changes to the track. We learnt a lot this year with the weather being the way it was with all the rain as we did last year with no rain. So we will be putting in new drainage in the off season to allow us the ability to open even with excess rain. The biggest problem was the fact that the infield of the track never got a chance to drain and dry properly all year so to rectify that we will install some drain culverts in key areas and extend the ponds to be able to recieve more water. The infield will be graded to allow for proper run off and designed to run towards one of the two ponds, this should eleviate most of the problems we had this year.
On the track I have descovered a better way to prepp especially if the rains are forecast. We initially believed the best way to allow the track to drain or except alot of rain was to rip and then "cap" it off by blading the track with the dozer more or less packing it in. Well as we found out on a few occassions this year thats not the best solution as the top just turns to slop and is very slick and then you can't turn it over as the the drier soil underneath just turns to slop aswell when you turn the wet stuff in. On friday last I knew that the rain was forecast fo over night and into saturday so I decided to try a new method. I had noticed something that had been done on the adjacent property and that the soil there had dried three times faster than on the track and never had any lying water to speak of, even with some of those rain falls that we had this year it had soaked up all the rain. After one such time that I had had to cancell one of the events this season I decided to take a walk out onto the proerty and see what the soil was like for moisture and see if it was saturated and sloppy like the track. Well to my surprise it was in very good condition and would have been very rideable.
So I decided on friday to give it a chance and see what would happen and it worked for the most part. I hadn't went to the extremes of the other property but I had done enough to know that it will work. The rain came starting about 12:30am and continued until I got to the the track saturday morning around 9am and the track was very rideable saturday morning and it still continued to rain until 1pm and as I was leaving after doing some stuff I checked it again. It would still have been ok "not perfect" but I would not have lost any events this year if I had realised this was the best way to go about prepping for the the rain. Lesson learned and I will use it in future to help with preping the track for rain.
Now as for the entrance to the track it is being widened to allow for better swing coming in and out of the gates, we are adding 4ft on either side. I had just been waiting on culverts to do this and seeing as I needed some for the track it was easier to do it all at once. I have the culverts now so we can do that in the next week as well. The driveway will also be taken care of over the off season, either sand or slag will be brought in to raise the driveway up above grade and alow for drainage. Hopefully I can get enough of either to do right up to and including the front (where sign in is normally for events) and down to the barn area this should hopfully assist us on easier in and out of the parking areas.
Once again I would like to thank everyone for using the facility this year and hope that you all enjoyed yourselves for the most part and found the track to be challenging, enjoyable and safe. We hope to see you all again next season and some new faces as well. Please continue to check in on the website in the off season as I will continue to update the blog with news and put up all the new schedules for events, practice day information and any relevant info.

CMRC Quad Provincial
This weekend is the CMRC ATV Provincial Championship event. We will be hosting open practice saturday from 10:30am - 4pm, please note that we will split practice into bike size and/or abillity levels as it gets busy. Two wheel riders are welcome for saturday practice but remember that this is an ATV weekend and you will be in a session seperate to the ATV's. I checked the track out on thursday afternoon to see how it looked after all the rain this week and it is in great shape. There was no standing water at all and all it needs is ripped open and its ready to go. The track has been laid up to suite ATV's with the corners being banked or laid flat with a burm. I am going to do some work on the track today and make two off camber corners just to add something different.
Practice fee's are $25
Gate fees are $10 Adult $5 Kids (6-11yrs) Pre Schoolers free. For the weekend.
Camping Fees $10 per vehicle
